Need a good laugh? "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris will have you laughing so hard you will feel like you will explode! Other great books by Sedaris include: "Naked" and "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim."

A really good cup of coffee- especially in a great coffee house always cheers me up too! State Street is the best!

Mrs. Hansen George,
I am confused about what exactly we need to do for this project. What does our poster need, and will we have time to work on it in class.

Thanks.

Also, could you please post a copy of our final instructions? It would be VERY helpful

Thanks Again.
You are creating a poster informing your audience (your peers) of coping strategies you utilize when you are feeling down. Some people turn to music. Some turn to exercise. Some turn to art. Etc. Your poster may be a collage of images, quotes, slogans, lyrics, etc. You may choose another method to illustrate your message. Perhaps you choose something more formal. (Think of informational posters you see ouside the Guidance Office for example.)

About the Final...I'll see what I can do about posting formal instructions on the blog. Did you get a copy of the Final in class?

When I am sad I listen to music to make me happy. My favorite song of all time would have to be "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. It puts me in a better mood and reminds me that its just a bad day. I also go outside and excercise when i am sad. The sunshine brightens up my mood and I'm happy and ready to go

When I'm in a bad mood or feeling down...i like to go outside and sometimes go into the woods and just listen to the sounds of the outside world. I also turn to sports and friends. When im having a bad day, I can go to baseball practice after school and it is essentially my "sanctuary" from everything else that is going on in my life. when im there, all i need to think about and focus on is baseball, and that puts me in a better mood. i also can turn to friends when i need someone to talk to if im struggling or having a bad day.

When i'm feeling blue, I just can't function. So I turn to sleep, I think everyone should sleep as much as possible. If I don't feel happy than I just take a nap and when I wake up I am energetic and go do something to stay happy. Sleeping is a happy time for me!

i'm a big fan of music. certain types put me in certain moods. one of my all time favs is "bitter sweet symphony" by the Verve. i don't know if soccer makes me feel happier is i'm sad.. i know it gets my aggression out and i love it though. the slogan "my better is better than your better" by nike is a good one for sports too. if i'm kinda bored or not feeling too good about something i'll take a long ride on one of my horses in the woods or up on the hills. it's calming and seems to "uncomplicate" things.
I also like to get outside...go for a long walk if I'm feeling stressed or blue. If I'm stressed or upset, I tend to walk fast! By the time I'm home, I feel much better!

About sleep....ahhhh, I miss it!

What makes me happy is listening to music, go for a walk, run, be by myself to have alone time and just being outside makes me happiest of all! I love the outdoors!
